Scrabble on the Beach

We sit on the sand with our backs against the rocks. The sun glistens on the ocean and the air tastes salty and crisp. The scrabble set is placed on the sand between us. Hours race by as the challenge of outsmarting a crafty opponent holds us captive.

The days, the years are so, so many as we sit in the middle of heaven, in the vastness of open space sensing the tingling of freedom.

The assault of aging is upon us. One feels too cold; what was once a delightful breeze is now a draft.

The step is slower, but we will be there until.
